ABOUT BASED DETRANS NETWORK
Connecting lived experience and professional expertise across Europe.
Based Detrans Network connects lived experience and professional expertise across Europe to improve support, care, professional practice and public policy following transition.
WHY WE EXIST
People who discontinue or reverse a previous transition are too often left without informed care, practical support or a meaningful voice in the systems that shape their care.
Across Europe, people who discontinue or reverse a previous transition often struggle to find informed care, practical guidance, peer connection and professionals who understand their needs.
Their experiences are discussed in healthcare, research, media and public policy, yet they are still rarely included meaningfully in the decisions that affect them.
Relevant support, knowledge and professional expertise remain fragmented across countries.
Based Detrans Network connects lived experience and professional expertise across Europe to change that.
OUR APPROACH
Detransition is not necessarily a second transition or another identity category.
Based Detrans Network understands detransition as the process of discontinuing or reversing a previous social, legal or medical transition, and rebuilding life beyond a previous trans identity or framework.
Detransition is the process of discontinuing or reversing a previous social, legal or medical transition.
For many people, it is not a movement into another identity, but a way of leaving a previous trans identity or framework behind and rebuilding life following transition.
Detransition may involve addressing the physical, psychological, social and legal consequences of a previous transition. Individual experiences, circumstances and needs can differ significantly.
