Rebuilding life beyond transition.
Based Detrans Network connects lived experience and professional expertise across Europe to improve support, care, professional practice and public policy following transition.

WHY BASED DETRANS NETWORK EXISTS
People who discontinue or reverse a previous transition are too often left without informed care, practical support or a meaningful voice in the systems that shape their care.
Across Europe, people who discontinue or reverse a previous transition often struggle to find informed care, practical guidance, peer connection and professionals who understand their needs.
Their experiences are discussed in healthcare, research, media and public policy, yet they are still rarely included meaningfully in the decisions that affect them.
Relevant support, knowledge and professional expertise remain fragmented across countries.
WHAT WE DO
Bringing detransition experience into European policy and practice.
We connect lived experience and professional expertise across Europe to improve support, care, professional practice and public policy following transition.
European connections
We build relationships between detransitioners, professionals, researchers, families and organisations across Europe.
Support and care pathways
We identify and help develop routes to appropriate medical, psychological, practical and peer support.
Documentation and knowledge
We document lived experience, unmet needs, gaps in care and systemic failures, and help make this knowledge available to researchers, professionals and institutions.
Professional and policy engagement
We bring detransition experience into professional standards, institutional consultations, safeguarding and public policy.
WHO WE WORK FOR AND WITH
Connecting people with lived experience and those whose work affects them.
For detransitioners
Based Detrans Network exists primarily for people who have detransitioned, are considering discontinuing a transition, or are living with the consequences of a previous social or medical transition.
We work to strengthen access to informed support, peer connection and professional understanding, and to ensure that lived experience is meaningfully included in the systems and decisions that affect people following transition.
For professionals and organisations
We work with families, healthcare and mental-health professionals, researchers, lawyers, journalists, civil-society organisations and policymakers whose decisions and work affect people before, during and following transition.
We connect professional expertise with lived experience to improve understanding, care, safeguarding, professional practice and public policy.
OUR VISION
A Europe where people are free to leave a previous transition behind, rebuild their lives with dignity, understanding and informed care, and contribute to safer and more responsible practice for others.
